That was the exact motivation behind The Reveal.

As developers, we often overcomplicate things with complex onboarding flows, email verifications, and user profiles. But when you're just trying to hang out and have a good time, friction is the enemy. Today, I'm sharing what The Reveal is and why I decided to build it.

What is The Reveal?

The Reveal is an online, browser-based party game designed specifically for friend groups. The core mechanic is simple but highly engaging: players answer secret prompts, and the group has to guess who said what, or just react to the hilarious and unexpected reveals.

The biggest rule I had when building this? Zero user accounts.

You generate a room, share the link with your friends, and everyone is instantly in. No passwords, no OAuth, no friction.

Why Build Another Party Game?

I'm just a developer who likes building things that solve a simple problem. I noticed that when hanging out—whether virtually or in-person—trying to get everyone into the same game often takes 15 minutes of setup, app downloads, and forgotten password resets. I wanted a game that starts in exactly 10 seconds.

Going purely browser-based meant it works seamlessly on any device. Whether your friends are on their phones, laptops, or tablets, they can join the room and start playing immediately.

The Technical Takeaway

Building a real-time state management system without relying on persistent user accounts introduces some fun, lightweight challenges. By relying entirely on simple room codes and session-based state, the backend stays incredibly light, the database doesn't bloat with dead user profiles, and the player experience remains blazing fast. It’s a great reminder that sometimes, the best architecture is the one that stores the absolute least amount of data.

Try It Out

If you're looking for a quick, laugh-out-loud game for your next hangout, give it a spin. It's completely free, and again, you don't even need to log in.

I'd love to hear any feedback, bug reports, or feature requests from the community. Let the secret prompts begin!

Same with the Crontabs, with CSV exports full of customer data. Then one day, I was doing a security training targeted for the Security Controls and realized I am doing something really wrong here. Because I didn't know where that data went when I pasted in those online sites.

Most online dev tools works the same way. Broswer sends input to an API, then a Server parses it and result comes back. But somewhere in between, it can end up in logs, analytical pipelines, load balancer records, or may be just in their database.

So I started looking into multiple online tools which doesn't save our data and works only on the client side. There are few sites which does that but for every utility, we need to visit different sites and not all of them promote the 100% client side, or no data logged terms. So we never know. Not to mention we need to visit 10 different sites for 10 different utilities.

So I built SyntaxFiddle: a set of Developer tools that run entirely in the browser.

How it works?

It is a static Next.js export. No backend, no database. Everything is parsed locally so there 's nothing for me to log even if I wanted to.
You don't have to trust me on that. Open Dev Tools, go to the Network tab, load a tool and paste something in. Nothing goes out after the initial page load. You can even turn of Internet and it will keep working.

Currently I have built following tools:

Cron expression Visualizer

Regex tester

JWT decoder

cURL converter to fetch, axios, Python, Go, Apex and more.

CSV and Excel to JSON, XML, SQL and SOQL In clause

JSON to Schema like Zod, YS , Pydantic, Go

It is totally free with no accounts. Please give it a try and share your feedback. I am planning to add more tools to this as I see fit like XML to Schema as many enterprise applications still use XML. Also please let me know in the comments if there is a tool you wish existed and I add it to the roadmap as well.

Thank you for reading through this. Plesae share your feedback.
